Thanksgiving Recap: EAT THAT PIE

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope y’all all enjoyed a wonderful day full of family fun and giving thanks! Our day consisted of running the Turkey Trot 5k in Dallas before beginning our eating.. i mean Thanksgiving festivities. We originally signed up to push Caden in the stroller (shoutout to BOB) for the race, but this morning was 39 degrees outside so we figured he would enjoy his morning better with grandma and grandpa in the warmth of their home!

Chris and I still ran in the untimed corral of the race. This usually wouldn’t stop me from bringing out my ultra-competitive spirit and sprinting as fast as i could past all the crowds of people to get to the front, but today was more about just having fun with my husband! Not too often do we get to go do something kid-free... even if it’s just running a 5k. We had so much fun and got a nice little workout before we began consuming lots of cals. There were over 40,000 runners total for the 5k and 8 mile race combined. So you can only imagine how crowded the road was during the race! Wow!  And We even medaled! Haaayyy (well first 4500 finishers medaled but whatever) We spent our thanksgiving day at my parents house since Chris’s decided to take a week long vacation to Vegas. (Rolls eyes out of jealousy)

Now usually i am a strong advocate of eating healthy and having self control when it comes to making the right food choices. BUT it’s Thanksgiving.. and i am also a huge advocate of enjoying life a little. LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO NOT EAT PUMPKIN PIE! (Or whatever pie/dessert your little heart desires) Do it!!!!  Thanksgiving wasn’t meant for Quinoa, tofu, and cauliflower stuffing (is that even a thing?)!!! Besides.. it’s only ONE day. Not a lifestyle.. This also means that you should find a way to burn those calories. This can be done by running, walking, yoga, spin, outdoor cycling, CrossFit, Pilates, Beach Body, YouTube, whatever your way of getting exercise is... you must balance the two! And maybe start a little new Thanksgiving tradition too. Ours is the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot 5k! What’s yours? Choose to be healthy. Choose to be happy! Promise you can do both. :)
