New Year New Time To Get It Together

  • This time of the year is always filled with the same emotions. Emotions that anticipate big dreams and aspirations for the new year. It’s also the last time all the procrastinators can use the excuse “I’ll start next year”. Even if we don’t consider ourselves “procrastinators”, We have all put things off because we either don’t want to mess with it or are too scared to try. Sometimes a mixture of both. Right? I’ll be the first to say that’s me! Then comes the end of January and we all are like “ok maybe next year” all over again. But literally that’s all of us at some point in life.  Sometimes we give up because it’s the easiest thing to do.. then we try to justify that decision every day. That’s exhausting. So when will enough be enough? When will it be time to finally take care of business? 2018 is it. This is your year. A new beginning. No matter how big or how small you want your goal to be. You. Can. Do. It.   It can be running your first 5k. It can be taking that job overseas to teach math to children (just maybe not North Korea). It can be taking your kid to the park more. It can be putting your phone away and paying attention to your kids more. It can be mending broken relationships. Maybe with parents? Or taking those extra vacation days to be with your family. Whatever your new year looks like. Do something. Anything!  for YOU. But you must  stick to it! Even when it’s hard and tiring and maybe not popular. Nothing comes easy. Not marriage. Not parenting. Not success. Nothing! Every good thing takes work and dedication. And yes, you may fail a few times first. But don’t let that scare you into procrastinating AGAIN. Or giving up that goal completely. 2018 is almost here. A clean slate. A do-over. A building block. Whatever a new year means to you. So think hard and long about what you want to accomplish in this new year. The sky’s the limit! The only thing standing in your way is your own doubt. I believe in you. Many others believe in you. So  here’s to you changing your life in 2018.  May you find happiness and fulfillment in the new year.
