Paleo Chili

Chili is one of my favorite things to cook in the cold season(s) because its super easy, delicious, and versatile!
Sometimes we eat it by itself, sometimes we roll it up in a tortilla for soft tacos, or if we are feeling extra wild we make frito pie.. Sometimes you just gotta live a little! Sorry frito pie isn't paleo.. is it?

The homemade chili seasoning recipe will be at the end don't worry.

Ingredients:

2 lbs ground turkey
1 14.5 oz can diced tomatos
1/2 cup water
4 tbps homemade chili seasoning (see below)

Directions:

Brown meat in skillet on med-high heat. About 15 min. Drain any liquid.
Add meat to pot with all other ingredients.
Simmer for 30 min or until meat is tender.

Paleo Chili Seasoning:

5 tbsp. chili powder
2 tbsp cumin
2 tbsp garlic powder
2 tbsp oregano
1 tbsp paprika
1 1/2 tbsp onion powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional- adds some heat to it)

*Make it your own!*
Add bell peppers, onion, kidney or pinto beans, cayenne pepper for you spicy folks.

Too spicy? Add some ketchup in your bowl and mix it around with the chili to make it less spicy. A trick I learned from my husband. I had never heard of this before because I grew up with a Mexican dad and we just didn't do that.... But it works! I do it so our son doesn't burn his taste buds off. :)
